Are Democrats lying or confused?? To me 49 to 49 is not control of the Senate.?
I think the 2 indipendents are in the best position. Imagine all the Vacation property the lobbyist will give them. Lieberman Got 15 new Caddilacs yesterday.
A-Best: Jews do not drive Mercedes do they ........
Lieberman and his staff need Cadillacs for what reason .Its a pay off to keep emissions controls on American cars just like they are now .
A: the independents caucus with the democrats, making it 51-49. you're confused if you don't think harry reid is the new MAJORITY LEADER.
A: But since the two "I" guys vote more Dem than GOP, advantage goes to Blue
A: If only Cons could admit defeat! Now that would be classy! But that is to much to hope for! Cons are confused, they just can't fathom that America butt kicked them out of the houses in the election!
A: They're not lying. They just know more about how Washington works than you do. The two independents have committed to caucusing this the democrats, giving the Dem's the majority.
A: yes, and - Happy Days Are Here Again!
A: Maybe you're right and eveyrone else is wrong. Maybe republcians are still in control of the sentate. Keep telling yourself that.
A: The Vermont Independent is a Socialist.
Lieberman is really a democrat.
A: The two independents have already agreed to caucus with the Democrats, making it 51 to 49.
A: Lieberman is a left-oriented Indepenedent, meaning that if the other isn't right-oriented, the Democrats have an advantage anyway: 50-49-1.
A: Liberman is still a Democrat
A: How "independent" can two congressmen be if they announce to the press they will vote with the dems?
Honestly!
A: Both independents said they would caucus with the Democrats. That gives the Democrats a 51-49 advantage. -RKO-
A: actually the control of the senate just went to the people for a change. the dems will be more responsive to the needs and desires of the people than the repubs were. so contact your rep and let him know what you want and how you feel and expect response instead of being ignored in favor of special interest groups.
I also think a lot of republicans will break ranks now that they know the reward for loyalty to the pres over the people is to be fired. some may actually vote their consciences or maybe be afraid of the voters if they stay too right wing in the future. those 49 republicans want to stay in office and there is a new election in 2008 so they may move to center to avoid the cut.
so there will be more bipartisan acts and the pure number advantage will not be so crucial. all senators should vote for what they think is best for their state and the nation instead of being a rubber stamp to the narrow agenda of the executive branch as they have allowed themselves to become. those days are over and it is back to business as it should be and as it was before the republican takeover. some gridlock, some compromise and some favoritism, but no all one way. people power is back .YEA
A: Those 2 guys are going to make a killing.
A: It's 51-49 Democrats won!
A: You are technically correct, but wrong in a practical sense. The two independent senators will vote mostly with the Dems.
A: The independent from Vermont is very left-wing and has always caucused with the Democrats. Lieberman has always been a very liberal Democrat, and will also caucus with the Democrats.
Because they will caucus together - i.e. they will vote on leadership of the Senate, and leadership of the committees for the duration of that Congress - this means they have a coalition majority of 51-49. Thus, control.
I'll bet Bush knew that, ya' big dummy!
A: You are reading yesterdays news.it is one seat majority including the V.P.tie breaking vote.
A: it's noot 49 to 49 it's 51 to 49
