Can my boyfriend claim me (24) and/or my daughter (7) on his taxes?
My boyfriend and i have been living together for more than 6 months of the year. can he claim us and get EIC?
A-Best: yea you have to be living together but like the 1 guy said go to www.irs.gov.
A: visit IRS .gov for real answers
A: No.
Unrelated people need to be living with the taxpayer for the entire year for them to be claimed as dependents.
If if he could claim you, you and your child would not qualify him for Head of Household or EIC.
A: He can claim head of household with 2 dependents. Goes down as 3 including his self. I don't know if Earned Income Credit applies.
A: He can claim you if you are completely dependent on his income. The only way he can claim your daughter is if he adopts her or if you get married to him. You won't be able to get the child tax credit if you are claimed as his dependent though.
A: head over to http://www.irs.gov to make sure.
He can't claim EIC for her--you would have to be married to him for that (and in order to claim EIC he would have to be able to claim her as a dependent also)
But he MAY be able to claim her as a dependent. He would have to claim head of household, you would have to be unemployed or seriously underemployed so that you didn't owe taxes, and your daughter would have to not have a father who can claim her if you can't claim her on your own tax return.
otherwise if you are able to claim your daughter on your own taxes. Then you should be filing as head of household and claiming your daughter as your dependent.
A: No.
You have to be married for him to be able to claim you and your daughter.
