I completely love my cat but she pees on me 24/7!? What do i do?
I love cat blueberry, but she pees on my bed like everyday!! My parents are getting pissed and want to get ride of her, but shes my little kitty!!! Help!
A-Best: First things first, change the sheets, scrub the mattress with a cat urine cleaner from the pet store, and Febreeze it to death... then flip the mattress.
Second, try to examine what's going on with your kitty. Sounds like she's upset about something, and she's showing you she's angry. Does she get left alone for long periods of time? Is she abused by anyone in your family? Does she constantly have access to fresh food and water? Does her litter get cleaned regularly, and/or did you change the brand of litter or location of the box? Did she go through some sort of trauma outdoors with another animal or indoors with another pet, get locked in a closet, etc... it could be any number of things that made her mad.
If you are 100% positive that there is absolutely no cause environmentally, then you need to take her to the vet and have her checked for urinary infections/illnesses.
Good luck!
A: You need to have her spayed if you haven't. You should also consider closing her out of your bedroom. You may need to keep her in a small area in your house to retrain her to use the litter box. There are things that cause urination issues, such as diabetes, urinary tract inflammation, kidney failure, and etc. You may need a vet visit, and consider changing her to a quality meat canned or raw food. You will avoid these issues in your cat.
A: I agree with above people, but the litter box is really key in all this. Think back - did the problem start when you changed litter or the location of the box? Try adding a box in a different location just to see if she responds to it. I had a cat once who started peeing in my bed and I realized later I had flushed the toilet right when he was trying to use it and it scared him.
But she definitely needs a vet visit. If she has a urinary infection, it can be easily cleared up with antibiotics - but it won't go away on its own.
A: inappropriate elimination screams health issues to me. that cat needs to get into a vet asap to make sure that she doesn't have a urinary infection, crystals, or some other problem that makes going to the bathroom painful. When cats have pain when they urinate, they start thinking it is the box causing the problem, so they look elsewhere. When that doesn't fix the pain, they then need to find some way to tell you that there is a problem. The only way they can do that is to pee where you hang out.. a favorite chair, a bed, etc. It isn't like your kitty can walk up to you and say "um, excuse me, but it hurts when I pee!" :)
If you get her to the vet and the vet says she is healthy (which I doubt, but it is a possiblity) you want to look for other reasons why she won't use the box. Is it dirty? is there only one? most cats like options when it comes to litterboxes, so put a second one down for her and see if that works. Limiting her access to places where she pees (shut your bedroom doors or confine her to a spare room or bathroom) and purchase a product called cat attract (available at most larger pet stores) which cats are attracted to. when she starts showing better litter box use, you can start letting her out into the rest of the house
But trying to fix an issue with out finding out if there is a physical cause will cause both of you a lot of pain. Get her to a vet..
