Question:

Salamalaykum brothers and sisters. Is it haram for me(15 year old) to shake hands with a 70 year old lady?
I know, I know, it's haram for me to tuch females who are not in my immediate family but in my culture it's disrespectful to not kiss an old woman's hand. I mean an old woman that is like over 70 years old. Is that still haram? Yes the old lady is Muslim. Not related to me.

A: Yes it is. You can respect her by greeting her verbally but you cannot touch her, it does not matter how old she is. She is still not your muhram. Dont listen to those who base their answers on age. I know its not likely for a 15 yr old boy to be thinking that way about a 70 yr old lady but the principle is still the same!  

A: if she has reached menopause then its permissible for you to see her and shake hands with her.
