My doctor gave me 15 mg morphine tablets to take 3 times a day is this good for me.?
My doctor just put me on 15 mg of morphine. The only thing I notice is that it makes me feel nauseous, agitated and sleepy and I'm still in pain. Is there something different that he can safely put me on that is stronger. I'm not too worried about getting nauseous, because I have zofran, but I need something for the pain. Because I have four herniated disc and crohns.
A-Best: Morphine is actually VERY weak when taken orally, or even intranasally. However, it's extremely effective if you 'shoot it' (not saying you should!). You need to tell your doctor if it's not working for you and he will find you a better pain medicine that works for you.
A: Your whole spine is compressed and twisted. Your doctor will have very few options, pain killer, osteopathy, physio and operation. None of them will give you total relief from pain. If you have an open mind, have a look at the following site...
A: morphine is one of the strongest pain medications you can take. 15 mg is a usual starting dose and after you get more of it built up in your system it may help you more. If not you will need to call him and see if you can take a higher dose. Do not up the dose on your own as it can cause respiratory depression and extreme sleepiness. Which can lead to death. This is a very serious medication so don't take it more often then prescribed.
A: What i would do is take the medicine for a little longer and see if your body gets used to it, if not then I would go see a doctor and tell him/her what is going on. She/he will probably prescribe you something else that hopefully will work better for you. Hope this helps!!!
